Three levels in the books, and the 74 players registered in the first flight of the Virginia Circuit Main Event have hit their first break of the day.

Registration remains open until about 8:45 PM local time, so there is still plenty of time to get in the mix!

Centrally located between the booming Cherokee circuit crowd and the flourishing Maryland/DC poker scene, the Caesars Virginia Circuit stop has all the makings of a successful tournamnet poker venue. Players have already come out in droves to support the WSOP's first appearance in the building.

Jon 'Slow Poker' Rand

Blinds: 100/200(200) - 45 players registered

Jon "Slow Poker" Rand opened the cutoff to 400 on the first hand of the tournament before the button called, Francisco Batzin Yojcom called from the small blind, and the big blind defended.

The flop landed, and without wasting too much time, Yojcom led for 900. Only Rand called, and the hit the turn.

Yojcom thought it over for a moment before he led again for 1,100. Once again, Rand put in the chips, and the hit the river.

Yojcom decided to slow down with a check, but Rand opted to take the betting back with a larger wager of 5,000. He got the action he wanted when Yojcom called.

Rand quickly tabled for the topest of pairs, and Yojcom flashed before his cards hit the muck. Rand scooped a healthy pot with rockets to get a nice head start in the inaugural Virginia Circuit Main.
