Kelopuro continues incredible GGPoker run with Super MILLION$ win

It was just over a week ago that Finnish poker crusher Sami Kelopuro took down three different tournaments in one day at GGPoker. Kelopuro emerged victorious in a trip of Sunday tournaments on Feb. 8, coming away with nearly $100k in combined cashes.

Kelopuro’s latest GGPoker accomplishment, however, ended in a payday well over the $100k mark. Kelopuro came away with the win in Super MILLION$ Episode 36, taking home $408,406 in the win.

The $10,300 buy-in Super MILLION$ High Roller plays out every week at GGPoker. Tuesday’s final table wrapped up the 36th edition of the tournament, which has emerged as one of the most prestigious weekly online tournaments in poker.

Kelopuro strikes a regular presence in the event, playing 32 out of 36 possible Super MILLION$ events. Tuesday’s finished marked his first win in the Super MILLION$, and came in his third final table appearance.

The $408,406 payout pushed Kelopuro’s career GGPoker winnings over the $4.5 million mark.

Kelopuro denies Damian Salas of a Super MILLION$ title

Damian Salas (2nd – $314,924), no stranger to success at GGPoker, came up just short of adding a Super MILLION$ title to his resume. The Argentinian poker legend worked through the GGPoker side of the 2020 WSOP Main Event in December on the way to claiming the most prestigious title in poker last month.

Episode 36 marked Salas’ first Super MILLION$ final table appearance and third cash in 12 tournament appearances.

Two-time Super MILLION$ champion Darren Elias (3rd – $242,839) finished two spots out of his third championship in the weekly High Roller tournament. Bert Stevens (7th – $85,856), Salas, and Elias came into Tuesday’s final table with the top three chip stacks and as the three top betting favorites according to PokerShares.

No one from that trio of world-class tournament players could stop Kelopuro, however. The Finnish poker pro spun up a seventh-place stack going into final table action, ending the day with a victory and paying off bettors that put money down on the (+1030) line on Kelopuro.

Other top finishers included ‘dimiasg’ (4th – $187,255), an unknown competitor playing from Cyprus. After winning entry into the Super MILLION$ through a $1,000 satellite, ‘dimiasg’ converted that into a massive return on investment with a $187,255 cash.

Rounding out the final table were Arsenii Malinov (5th – $144,393), Adrian Mateos (6th – $111,342), Aleksei Barkov (8th – $66,204) and Guillaume Nolet (9th – $51,050).

The Super MILLION$ plays out every week at GGPoker, with the action beginning each Sunday. Day 1 plays down to a final table for each edition of the tournament.

The final table competitors return and play to a champion every Tuesday, with the final day streamed on the GGPoker Twitch channel.
