Over the weekend, the action on the PokerStars virtual felt continued as the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) rolled on through its second weekend.
On Saturday, PokerStars Pro Parker 'Tonkaaaa' Talbot, added to his already-impressive 2024 WCOOP run with a third tournament victory, bringing his total WCOOP title tally to seven. In the last five years, Talbot has claimed a WCOOP title in each series, with 2024 being an especially successful run for the PokerStars Pro.
Tablot's latest win came in WCOOP 61-H: $10,300 8 Game (6-Max, High Roller) after he defeated Jens 'Fresh oO D' Lakemeier heads up to claim the title and the top prize of $101,966.
The event attracted a field of 23 entries, including COOP-legend Benny 'RunGodlike' Glaser and fellow PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis, but at the end of the day, Talbot stood alone above the rest of the field.
Jorstad notches 2nd WCOOP title
It was a successful weekend for the 2022 WSOP Main Event Champion Espen Jorstad as well. On Sunday, the Norwegian professional outlasted the field in WCOOP 70-H: $1,050 NLHE (Turbo) to claim his second WCOOP title and the $32,400 top prize. Jorstad maneuvered his way through a stacked final table, beating out Talbot, Yuri 'theNERDguy' Dzivielevski, Ivan 'ILS007 Stokes, Felipe 'ketzerfelipe' Ketzer, and Simon 'C.Darwin' Mattsson.
Jorstad's win marks his fifth COOP title overall, split between his three Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) victories and his two WCOOP triumphs.
The WCOOP Main Events begin this Saturday, September 28 and will play center stage until the series ends on October 2.
