Players on 888's New Jersey online-poker site, 888poker NJ, will have an extra two weeks to play on the site before its shutdown in June.
Originally scheduled to close on June 3 following the April sale by 888 to Hard Rock Digital of its US-facing business-to-consumer (B2C) assets, the site and its sister offering, 888casino NJ, will remain active until mid-month.
An 888 representative dropped a brief note regarding the extension on the company's official 2+2 account. The brief message stated:
FYI,
888, with its 888casino and 888poker products, will be leaving the New Jersey market on June 17, 2024.
Rest assured, your funds will remain secure; however, please withdraw your available funds at your earliest convenience.
Regards
The message offered no explanation for the two-week extension, though it will assist 888 (now known as Evoke) and its customers alike in withdrawing funds in a timely fashion before the site itself goes dark, leaving customers to contact the site to have transactions done manually.
Hard Rock Digital does not currently have an online-poker site, nor is it licensed to do online business in New Jersey at the present time, leaving no channel through which 888's existing New Jersey players could be ported to another active site.
