It's been almost 20 years since a Tennessee accountant with the unlikely name of Chris Moneymaker parlayed a WSOP Main Event seat he's won in an $86 online qualifier into a triumph that changed the poker world. This month, Americas Cardroom and Moneymaker celebrate that approaching anniversary with its The Next Moneymaker 2.0 promotion, which will send one lucky player to Vegas this summer.
ACR's The Next Moneymaker 2.0 promotion runs March 11th through May 28th, where players will have a chance to step-ladder their own way to Vegas beginning with -- you guessed it -- $86 online tourneys.
The promo is simple enough. Throughout the spring, players can compete in these special $86 events and earn points on each week's The Next Moneymaker 2.0 leaderboard. The top 24 players each week earn extra points and any player who participates in all 13 weeks of the contest receives an added bonus as well.
Just by participating in even one of the weekly leaderboards, however, players qualify for a special two-day finale beginning on Sunday, June 4th. And there the big prize awaits. Not only will the winner receive a $15,000 travel package including that $10,000 buy-in, but there's an extra $100,000 in cash for the winner as well.
Cashing and making the leaderboards more often is an advantage, of course, as each player's leaderboard point will determine their starting stack in the June finale. Overall, there's a million dollars in guaranteed prize pools being offered through the promotion's run.
