Arlie Shaban is obviously doing something right, as the Canadian PokerStars Team Pro is enjoying a great run during Ontario’s Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). With a week of the series still to run, he’s picked up no fewer than three tournament wins - including one in a game he’d literally never played before!
Thanks to some hurried advice from GGPoker streamer and fellow Ontarian Patrick Tardif, Shaban took down event 10-M, the $30 Razz tournament, for his third ONSCOOP title of 2024, and his fourth overall.
Three wins, plus more deep runs
As Shaban told PokerOrg before the series began, he has form when it comes to mixed games, having won a half NLHE/half PLO event during a previous Ontario Championship of Online Poker (ONCOOP). He also told us one of the SCOOP events he was most looking forward to was the $500 Sunday Special, which he ended up final-tabling.
Playing under the screen name ‘Prince Pablo’, Shaban’s first SCOOP win of 2024 was in event 5-M, a 6-Max Turbo PKO in which he topped a field of 415 for almost $1,500. Just a few days later he won event 13-M, a $250 freezeout, for another $5,798.
Shaban, a former Big Brother Canada contestant, then finished runner-up in the 6-Max Hyper Supersonic for a further $971, before making his astonishing Razz debut for a win of $519.
With Ontario’s three Main Events starting this coming Sunday, Prince Pablo is surely going to be one to watch - literally, as you can follow his ONSCOOP antics via his Twitch channel.
