The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) $10K Main Event – one of the most prestigious tournaments in the online poker arena – played down to a winner on Wednesday.
After several hours of intense action, Felipe Boianovsky was the last man standing. For his efforts, the Brazilian took home the $551,632 first-place prize and his second WCOOP title.
And it wasn't his first time on a COOP Main Event winner's podium. In 2023, he won the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) $10K Main Event for $1,036,199.
With Wednesday's victory, Boianovsky etched his name into the fabric of online poker history as the only player to triumph in both a SCOOP Main Event and a WCOOP Main Event.
Below, you can check out the full replay of the final table on the PokerStars Twitch channel.
History in the making
From a field of 289 entrants, nine players returned for final table action on Day 4.
Dante 'dantegoyaF' Goya held the chip lead to start play, with Thomas 'MarToMchat' Boivin and Pablo 'pabritz' Silva not far behind.
Santiago '13santoy13' Plante, Boianovsky, and Teun 'tinnoemulder' Mulder were clustered in the middle of the pack while 'What0ver9000', Dan 'NukeTheFish!' Wilson, and Rayan 'Beriuzy' Chamas were the short stacks.
'What0ver9000' was the first player eliminated from contention, taking a tough beat with against Plante's
on a
board. After making trips on the river, 'What0ver9000' was unable to find the fold button when Plante moved all-in.
Chamas fell next, getting unlucky with against Wilson's
. With all the chips in the middle preflop, the
runout provided Wilson with a three-outer to scoop the pot and eliminate Chamas.
From there, Boianovsky went on a rampage – eliminating every single remaining player.
Boianovsky unstoppable
Boivin bowed out in seventh after calling off his last 22 big blinds with in the face of a button shove from Boianovsky. The Belgian was way ahead of the Brazilian's
, but the
runout saw his pocket pair cracked.
After that, his ran down Silva's
on a
runout.
Then he rivered the nut flush with on a
board against Muelder's
and the Dutchman couldn't find the fold button.
Goya felt the Brazilian's wrath next, jamming about 10 big blinds with from the small blind in a blind versus blind confrontation. Boianovsky called it off with
and the
runout was enough to send his opponent packing.
With such a disparity between his stack and those of his opponents, Boianovsky could do no wrong. From the button, he jammed and picked up a call from Wilson with
. The
runout was something of a cruel joke for the Englishman.
When heads-up play began, Boianovsky had about a 5-to-1 chip lead over Plante – and the battle didn't last long. The final hand saw Plante play his as a min-raise from the big blind in the face of a limp from his opponent.
The flop was about as good as it gets, except Boianovsky had
and when all the chips went in he was a heavy favorite to win it all. The
turn left Plante drawing dead and, just like that, history was made.
