Welcome to the first entry in our WSOP Diaries series â raw, honest accounts from players in the heart of the Las Vegas poker storm.
The WSOP this year is unlike any other year that Iâve ever played, thanks to the WSOP+ app. I promise you the app is a complete godsend. Itâs a game-changer.
It's going to make the WPT in December look archaic. Everyone will be like, 'What do you mean I can't just look at my phone... I have to stand in line? What is this?'
I'm also extremely happy with the food choices at the WSOP summer. They upgraded their cafeteria food to include sandwiches and salads, in addition to hot dogs, so that's cool.
The dealers
My only bad feedback is... What the f**k with these untrained dealers, WSOP?
We know that every single year, there are opportunities for people to work as dealers who were literally chefs and teachers the day before. But please, WSOP, give them some training.
Why are we throwing them into the lion's den? Why are we letting them get cussed out every five seconds? Why are we letting players touch the pot and touch other people's chips? All of that is wild to me.
There were literally so many strange instances last week.
I am spending time trying to help the dealers figure out split pots and count out people's stacks. Why arenât they going to give the dealers some additional training?
Negreanu brings me fantasy points
I created two different fantasy draft teams, one for PokerOrg in the Fantasy Freeroll. I have Daniel Negreanu, who went deep, thank God. And then I have Jesse Lonis, who goes deep every other day.
I'm feeling really confident about my team. As for how I'm doing on other people's teams, I have two min-cashes. So, you guys calm down, okay? It's just started.
Now it's time for recovery
Iâm trying to take a week off of the grind. I'm f**king exhausted. I'm not going to lie.
Also, people are nonchalantly being sick and coughing all over the table. That happens all the time. That's not a one-off. People are admitting to being sick and not wearing a mask. That's very annoying.
I took yesterday off. I'm so proud of myself for actually taking a day off. I did red light therapy and cryotherapy, and I got a full-body massage â all on the same day.
My days off are turning into sick prevention and recovery days. It's not for relaxation. It's literally to preserve my body. I need to build up my immune system to withstand the next 45 days, as summer camp has just started.
I cannot be exhausted already. That's not a thing, okay? So, yeah, a lot of therapy sessions. Until next weekâŠ
