The Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF) has announced the selection of Kristen Foxen and Jeanne David as the Class of 2024, along with Starla Brodie, who will be honored as the first Pioneer Inductee in a ceremony next month.
The public nomination process for the Class of 2024 started in September before the field was whittled down to eight finalists – Foxen and David, along with Liv Boeree, Jamie Kerstetter, Kara Scott, Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Annette Obrestad, and Jennifer Shahade. The eight finalists were voted on by living WiPHoF members and a select panel of poker-industry media.
The WiPHoF was started in 2008 to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout the poker world. David and Foxen will become the 26th and 27th inductees.
Foxen most decorated woman
Canadian-born pro Foxen has over $8 million in career earnings, according to The Hendon Mob, and she added a fifth WSOP bracelet in October, the most of any woman. Her stellar 2024 only adds to a career that also has final table appearances on the World Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour on a resume that dates all the way back to 2006.
Her first WSOP bracelet was in the WSOP Women's event in 2013 and she followed up with a second in the $1,500 Bounty in 2016. Foxen has since added three online bracelets across the international and US WSOP platforms.
Key behind-the-scenes figure
David, a resident of Las Vegas and member of PokerOrg's Player Advisory Board, joins the WiPHoF as one of the most-known players throughout local card rooms and on the mid-major circuits. Her Masters Degree in Social Work with a focus on addiction allowed her to serve players and their well-being for years in her role as Responsible Gaming Manager with PokerStars.
A prominent figure behind the scenes, David was active in promoting the legalization of online poker throughout the US and Europe, and she played a role in its regulation in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada.
First Pioneer Induction
Foxen and David will be joined as honorees by the first posthumous Pioneer Induction, Starla Brodie. Brodie was the first woman to win an open-field event at the WSOP when she paired with Doyle Brunson to win the 1979 Mixed Doubles Event. She went on to win a second bracelet in 1995 in the Womens Seven Card Stud tournament.
Brodie is the first Pioneer Induction, meant to honor the trailblazers who had success at the highest levels.
All three women will be honored on December 11 at the Women in Poker Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Luncheon at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
