Birthdays are always most exciting when you’re young, so it’s understandable that GGPoker went all-out to celebrate the 6th anniversary of its GGMasters tourney on Tuesday.

The $150 tournament drew a huge 59,480 entries across multiple starting flights, attracted by the $10 million guaranteed prizepool.

Unfortunately that figure fell short of the number needed to cover the guarantee, resulting in an overlay of more than $1.7M. That makes it the biggest overlay in online poker history.

Good news for the players who made the money, including the top 3 finishers — all of whom were playing out of Brazil.

Two players score almost a million in heads-up deal

The final 9 reconvened on Tuesday to play to a winner, and all received at least $110K for their efforts. The bulk of the fortunes, as usual, went to the final 3 who all received over half a million dollars each.

A heads-up deal meant that, while no one came out of the event with a seven-figure score, two players both came very close.

Ramon Kropmanns took the title and $956K, while the tournament’s official runner-up ‘Au!Au!Au!In!’ claimed the slightly larger payout of $980K. Together with third-place finisher ‘CheeDDou’, the final three all flew the Brazilian flag.

The trio were among the top 4 heading into the final day of play, alongside Norway’s ‘modalrealism’ who started the day in 2nd and ended up 4th, for $465K. 'TuttiFrutti3' in 5th ($349K) also hails from Brazil, while Ireland’s ‘dueceswild’, who we reported had barely $1K in prior winnings, came in shortstacked but outlasted several rivals to finish 7th for over $196K.

Upcoming tournament series at GGPoker in 2026 include the WSOP Super Circuit Edition in late March, the GG World Festival Edition in May and, in September, WSOP Online.
