Defending WPT World Champion Danny Sepiol has returned to his winning ways by taking down the middle leg of the WPT Alpha8 High Roller Trifecta being held at Wynn Las Vegas as part of the ongoing Wynn Summer Classic festival.
Sepiol's triumph over a 208-entry field was worth $672,200, which he secured by busting Jonathan Cohen during heads-up play, Cohen earned $450,000 as the runner-up, while Mikita Badziakouski finished third for $335,000.
The win marked Sepiol's second career World Poker Tour title, joining his massive victory last December in the 2023 WPT World Championship, also held at the Wynn. That victory was worth $5,282,954, and this Alpha8 triumph pushes his career WPT earnings alone to more than $6.1 million.
Sepiol takes top spot on Alpha8 leaderboard
The victory in this second of three $25,000 Alpha8 high rollers also moves Sepiol to the top of the special Alpha8 leaderboard. Sepiol gained 16 points here, and along with a points-earning cash in the first Alpha8 tourney, he has 28 points total and has likely secured himself one of the eight $10,400 seats to the 2024 WPT World Championship that will go to the top eight finishers.
The third leg of the Alpha8 trifecta takes place next week, July 10-11, at the Wynn.
The final-table finishers in the Alpha8 Trifecta #2 were as follows:
- Danny Sepiol - $672,200
