Only the Main Event remains to play out in the 2020 EPT Online Series
The unprecedented 2020 EPT Online series at PokerStars plays to a finish today, as only the $5,200 Main Event remains before the series comes to an end.
The Nov. 8-19 series marked the first time ever for an all-online European Poker Tour festival. Two more tournaments played to end Tuesday at PokerStars, while the Main Event played down to the final table.
The Day 10 recap of the 2020 EPT Online includes the following highlights:
'tikidiii' leads EPT Online Main Event Final Table
Event #16: $5,200 NLHE 8-Max Main Event saw the field trim down to the final nine Tuesday. The final table resumes today, with the first-place prize of $1,019,082 on the line.
Finland's 'tikidiii' (101 big blinds) and Sweden's 'WhatIfGod' (99 big blinds) enter final table play with the top two chip stacks. All nine remaining players still have maneuverable stacks, however.
Viacheslav 'VbV1990' Buldygin (90 big blinds), Timothy Adams (82 big blinds), Andreas Christoforou (44 big blinds), and David 'Miss Oracle' Yan (42 big blinds) represent just some of the big names still in contention for the Main Event title.
Other final table contestants include Jon 'apestyles' Van Fleet (35 big blinds), Enio 'Bozzano JNR' Bozzano (28 big blinds), and 'vip25459' (23 big blinds). All of the final nine earn at least $78,797.
The total number of entries for the Main Event ended up at 1,304, pushing the prize pool to $6,520,000. Notable players finishing in the money Tuesday included Mustapha Kanit (11th - $63,784), Benjamin 'bencb789' Rolle (28th - $33,830), Antoine Saout (50th - $22,167), and PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colilas (53rd - $22,167).
Dani 'danipesis' Palau wins $530 8-Max event
Event #19: $530 NLHE 8-Max Progressive Knockout came to an end Tuesday, with Dani 'danipesis' Palau taking down the championship for a $71,852 payday. That total includes the $35,401 winner's prize and an additional $35,401 in bounties.
Palau defeated 'wimmaz' (2nd - $38,396) in heads-up play, securing the title in a field of 1,000 total entries. Other top finishers included 'Gamblitz_13' (3rd - $25,147), Ognyan 'cocojamb0' Dimov (4th - $27,495), Caio 'sombra97' Mayrinck (5th - $15,451) and 'tretbootlion' (6th - $11,181).
The field for Event #19 hit the maximum allowance of 1,000 entries, with the prize pool ending up at $500,000.
Damian 'pampa27' Salas wins Last Chance event
The final tournament to kick off on the EPT schedule saw Argentinian great Damian 'pampa27' Salas come away with a win. Salas emerged victorious in Event #20: $1,050 Last Chance NLHE, taking down the one-day tournament for a $117,475 payday.
Salas' heads-up opponent, Phillipe 'takechip' D’Auteuil (2nd - $86,821), represented another highly rated player that made the final table in the Last Chance event. Other top finishers included Dmitriy 'corvet75' Mitrofanov (3rd - $64,166), 'Eset93' (4th - $47,422), 'S.N.I.N.1' (5th - $35,048), and Ricardo '2Much$4U_08' Lima (6th - $25,903).
Artur 'mararthur1' Martirosian (7th - $19,144) continued his incredible run of online tournament finishes in 2020, making a final table appearance in the EPT Online series closer.
