Poker-industry veteran Melanie Moser has announced a new podcast about women in poker. Her Game, Her Rules, promises to find entertaining and enriching stories from throughout the poker world that may or may not focus solely on the game itself.

For Moser, a marketing and public-relations specialist who's been involved in poker for nearly a decade and a half, she loves poker, but that's not what urges her forward with a concept such as Her Game, Her Rules.

"What really drives me is the human side of it," she said. "It's the stories, the connections, and the real-life experiences that make this game so much more than the cards and the chips."

Challenging the norms

The idea for the new podcast came to Moser while she was watching the recent 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, and found herself captivated by the real-life stories behind many of the world's greatest athletes. "These women weren't just competing," she noticed. "They were challenging the norms."

Such norms exist in poker as well, and Moser's self-appointed task will be to find stories of success, achievement, and personal satisfaction that stand apart, whether the story takes place on the felt or not. She asked herself, "What if we would view the different areas of people working in poker as different disciplines? We've got the dealer, the player, the event manager, the producer, the live reporter, the influencer, and so on."

Seeking different types of poker stories

In just a few weeks, Moser's concept has become reality. She's posted an open call in a prominent Facebook group for women's poker information, asking for posters to submit the names of women throughout poker who have stories worth sharing with a wider audience. Those stories, in turn, will be the heart of the 'Her Game, Her Rules' podcasts, with the women appearing as guests to share their stories.

Moser's own career has provided her a wide background in not only the game, but the game's people as well. She spent over a decade working within large gambling sites as an event coordinator, promoter, and in other roles, and most of that time was spent working with three of the largest online-poker sites. In 2021, she decided to go solo, and today she offers her services through her A-Game Agency startup.

The introductory episode of 'Her Game, Her Rules' is available on Spotify. In this brief intro, Moser offers further background on why she's launching the podcast. She hasn't teased her followers regarding upcoming guests, but that should appear in the coming weeks.
