Winning the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is a fastpass to poker immortality.
Well, ‘fast’ may be the wrong word: when Lucas Jumalon won the $10M top prize this summer it was after 11 days of play.
But one of the many great things about online poker is the speed of play. With no time lost to physical shuffles, no one forgetting to put out their blinds, and automated shot clocks on every decision, it’s possible for a field of many thousands to play down to a winner in just a couple of days.
So if you’re looking for the absolute fastest way to claim one of the biggest prizes in poker, pay attention.
The $5K WSOP Online Main Event is running at GGPoker right now, with a final Last Chance turbo Day 1 kicking off at 9:30am ET on Monday. Late reg will stay open until just past noon, so you won’t have to miss out if you’re not an early riser.
No overlay this time
At time of writing the field is just a few players short of the number needed to meet the $25,000,000 guaranteed prizepool, so expect that number to be comfortably beaten.
Last time out, in 2025, the final prizepool reached over $28M as 5,961 entries ponied up the $5K buy-in. On that occasion Benjamin ‘bencb’ Rolle triumphed for an eye-watering payday of $3.9M.
Those taking the final opportunity to play should keep their immediate schedules clear; Day 2 of this event starts at 2pm ET on Monday and will play all the way down to the final table.
So far 5,257 players have booked their seats for Day 2, though with a ‘best stack forward’ policy we may see some of them also trying their luck in the Last Chance Day 1.
