Is the final table lineup in the $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha at the WSOP the most stacked we've ever seen at this price point?
Daniel Negreanu is in the mix, hunting for his eighth World Series of Poker bracelet. It'll be an uphill battle for sure as the Canadian comes in with one of the shortest stacks in play – but Negreanu is no stranger to spinning it up.
The summer hasn't gone according to plan for Negreanu so far, but tonight's final table offers a chance to turn things around in a hurry.
As in any competitive arena, momentum is a real thing and this might be the spark that ignites a fire in Negreanu.
Foxen, Reichard, and Hawkins in the way
To win bracelet No. 8, Negreanu will have to navigate a loaded final table that includes Alex Foxen and WSOP Circuit standouts Josh Reichard, John Holley, and Maurice Hawkins. Between the three of them, they boast more than 50 WSOP Circuit rings.
Reichard and Holley might not have the name recognition of Negreanu or Foxen, but they have all the requisite chops on the felt to take this one down.
Hawkins, on the other hand, is a name well known within the poker community – though not for the best reasons. As a skilled player in his own right, Hawkins can take home the bracelet if the cards go his way, but we wouldn't expect many supporters on his rail during the heads-up battle if it comes down to that.
Foxen reached the semi-finals of the Heads-Up Championship earlier in the series, finishing in fourth place. Another close call followed soon after in the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, but this is the first final table of the summer for Foxen.
Will he seize the moment like his wife Kristen Foxen did in the $25K High Roller? Only time will tell.
And we're live!
With such a stacked final table assembled, the WSOP has made the decision to add the event to its live-streaming schedule.
While there's a heavy delay on the proceedings for game integrity's sake, the stream should pick up the action later tonight – and you can watch along on the WSOP YouTube Channel.
Get the popcorn ready.
