With the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) now in full swing, the big names and heavy hitters of the online poker arena have their hands full for the next few weeks. For Patrick Leonard, the series is off to a hot start as he notched his ninth SCOOP title in event 13-H: $1,050 NLHE 7-Max Turbo PKO.

With the win, Leonard adds to his growing tally of Championship of Online Poker (COOP) titles. Leonard's 9 SCOOP victories – plus his 11 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) victories – places him in rarified air as one of only a handful players with 20 or more COOP titles.

Before Leonard joined the club, Benny Glaser, Niklas Astedt, and Tobias Leknes had each managed to cross the twenty-title benchmark. Glaser's 15 WCOOP titles and 11 SCOOP titles position him as the player to chase while Astedt's 11 WCOOP titles and 9 SCOOP titles see him exactly level with Leonard in both tally and distribution. Leknes, meanwhile, has quietly collected 13 WCOOP titles and 7 SCOOP titles.

SCOOP title race tight at the top

It's a close race for the podium spot and there's still a lot of poker left to play during this series. Off the heels of his latest win, Leonard joins Ole Schemion, Astedt, Matthew Ashton, and Simon Mattsson in a five-way tie for the third place slot on the all-time SCOOP winners leaderboard. While he's not far off from the top – only Calvin Anderson (10), Andre Skvortsov (10), and Glaser (11) hold more SCOOP titles – Leonard has his work cut out for him if he wants to pursue the lead and he's well aware of the competition he faces.

In the replies to his post, Leonard wrote of Glaser, "His consistency and longevity is unrivaled but inspiring and [I] will try my very best to catch him but he will continue to win titles for sure as well."

With plenty of tournaments left on the schedule – PokerStars' 2025 SCOOP runs until June 2 – Leonard and his competitors will have ample opportunities to add to their title tallies.
