PokerStars announced today the return of one of its most popular destination stops.
The Summer Festival Malta will run this year from June 27th to July 2nd. The Intercontinental Hotel in St. Julians, an area of Malta known for its lively atmosphere, will play host to the flock of poker players descending upon the island.
PokerStars released details on certain events. The Main Event of the festival comes at the standard €1,100 buy-in level. For those players that want to bump up the stakes, the High Roller event will be a €2,200 buy-in. Additionally, The Summer Festival Malta will be the debut location for a new tournament from PokerStars. Live on Stars will be a two-day No Limit Hold 'Em event with a €550 buy-in. Players can win their seats to these events via online satellite events that start March 27th, with full packages that include hotel rooms and flight expenses available.
The complete schedule of events has not yet been released, but last year's festival schedule offers some clues. In 2022, the series saw a total of 28 tournaments (including satellites) with buy-ins ranging from €220 to €5,200. The festival attracted players from all across Europe, with event winners from Denmark, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Norway, and many more. Bulgaria's Zlatin Penev took down the Main Event, claiming the top prize of €144,360. The field garnered an impressive 815 entrants, generating a prize pool of €782,400.
Aside from the poker, players come to Malta for the sun, the fun, and the experiences shared with friends and family. This year's festival should be no different (there's even another Players' Party in the works).
