PokerStars announced Thursday a brand new initiative to celebrate its various online MTT brands with boosted guarantees during Stars Season.
Stars Season will feature countless multi-table tournaments across 30 'Episodes' from October 27 to December 1. Whether you're a diehard fan of the Super Tuesday, one of the hunters in the Bounty Builders, or a glory-seeker taking on the Sunday Storm, PokerStars wants to celebrate all of its name-brand tournaments and, with enhanced prize pools across the board, it's you – the players – who will benefit.
Stars Season will also see the online operator award a total of $350,000 in tournament tickets. The popular Ticket Machine promotion will return, giving away $250,000 in Stars Season tickets spread across five draws throughout the Season.
To participate, all you have to do is opt-in and play one Stars Season tournament within the week to receive a single Ticket Machine entry for the draw. Additionally, a second entry will be awarded for those who play in another Stars Season event in the same week. The Ticket Machine draws will take place every Sunday from November 3 to December 1.
Leaderboard grinders, start your engines
Stars Season will also feature dedicated Low, Medium, High, and Overall leaderboards, between them awarding a combined $100,000 in tournament tickets for the upcoming New Years Series. Plus, the winner of the Overall leaderboard will earn themselves a $22,000 New Years Series package, which includes tickets to the three Main Events and several other tournaments. Every Sunday during the Season, leaderboard point earnings will double and, for the Season Finale, triple.
The schedule highlights include the following episodes, each offering double leaderboard points:
- October 27: $109 Stars Season Kick Off, $1M GTD
- November 3: $11/$109/$1,050 Super Sunday with respective $125K/$1M/$300K GTD
- November 10: $109 Sunday Million, $1M GTD / $55 Red Spade Open, $500K GTD
- November 17: $109 Sunday Million, $1M GTD
- November 24: $109 Sunday Million, $1M GTD
- December 1: $109 Stars Season Finale, $1.25M GTD
Veldhuis starts celebration with 'The Terminator'
PokerStars Team Pros will also get in on the action, with an array of ambassadors set to host their own 'episodes' throughout the Season. Players who eliminate a host will earn themselves a Stars Season bounty, which includes a seat in the $109 Stars Season Finale, an exclusive Spraggy throwable, and an entry into an All-in Shootout with a New Years Series Silver Power Pass up for grabs.
Stars Season commences with a PKO (Progressive Knockout) Episode hosted by PokerStars' own Lex Veldhuis, which he has titled 'The Terminator'.
When asked why he chose a bounty event to kick off Stars Season, Veldhuis responded, “I love bounty events because they add an extra layer to play. Everybody is forced to play more hands and get involved in bigger pots. It’s a unique format that promotes aggression and loose play – just my style – and a perfect way to launch Stars Season!”
