Chris Moneymaker is the proud recipient of his own trophy after he won the Moneymaker Tour Main Event at Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida on Tuesday. The 2003 WSOP Main Event champ beat 424 entries to win $83,042 from his $1,100 buy-in.
It's the second victory on his own tour for Moneymaker, who held his first event at the same venue in 2023. He picked up his first tour win a few weeks ago in the $300 Mixed Omaha event at MGM National Harbor.
'Pretty damn cool.'
It was a full-circle moment for the champ, who ditched a trip to Costa Rica to jump in the Main Event in West Palm Beach and grab the chip lead.
"It's a really cool moment to be able to have a trophy with your name on it," Moneymaker told Lefty after his win. "It's not something that many people get to experience. It's kind of a surreal moment, I'll be honest. Winning the Main Event, obviously super cool. Winning Triton is super cool. Winning a tournament that you started from scratch is pretty damn cool."
The Moneymaker Tour will now shift its attention to Playground in Montreal, where a schedule of 23 events are already underway at the next stop. The road show will remain in Montreal until May 20, when it heads to The Casino @ Dania Beach for an event on May 27. From there, it's off to Las Vegas from June 26–July 6 and Aruba from September 18–28.
