And none of it would have happened if Moneymaker hadn't gotten this bluff through against Sammy Farha.

Heads-up for all the marbles, and with nothing but a busted draw on the river, Moneymaker shoved all-in and forced his wily opponent to fold the winning hand. Dragging the pot boosted his stack, as well as his confidence that he could become world champion. 

Moneymaker's victory reinforced the idea that an everyman can succeed against seasoned professionals – and this hand was the blueprint.

'You call, it's gonna be all over, baby' 

In 1998, Scotty Nguyen triumphed over Kevin McBride during heads-up play to win the WSOP Main Event – and in the process, he delivered one of poker's most beloved lines. 

It was the final hand of the tournament and the board read , putting a full house on the board. Nguyen moved all-in with , asking for the rest of McBride's chips.

As McBride considered his options, Nguyen dispensed with a line so effortlessly cool and collected that it has lived on in poker legend for nearly three decades. 

"You call, it's gonna be all over, baby," he said, beer bottle in one hand, a lit cigarette in the other. 

McBride made the call, playing the board, and it was, in fact, all over. 

Stu Ungar wins third Main Event

The 1997 WSOP Main Event saw Stu Ungar make an epic comeback to poker's biggest stage after several years away from the game. 

The final table was held outside, on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, adding an old-school flair to the moment and creating an unforgettable scene.

It was Ungar's third Main Event win – his prior two coming in 1980 and 1981 – and cemented his legacy as one of the greatest poker players of all time. And it all came down to a 7-outer on the river.

In a post-victory interview with Gabe Kaplan, Ungar dedicated the win to his daughter Stephanie.

Haxton takes it to the streets

In 2007, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure saw Isaac Haxton pull off one of the most absurd bluffs you'll ever see in a pot against his heads-up opponent Ryan Daut. 

Like Ungar's Main Event win, the final table of the event was played outside – with the warm Caribbean breeze blowing Haxton's flowing locks all over the place and creating an instantly memorable scene. 

Both players had absolute rags, nothing at all worthy of a showdown – but that didn't stop them from bluffing at the pot. On a flop, Daut fired a bet with his and Haxton made the call with , drawing to a wheel. 

The turn saw the action go check, check, and the river completed the board. Haxton fired a bet, bluffing to steal the pot, but Daut responded with a bluff-raise. 

Haxton couldn't possibly call – but he could re-bluff. And that's exactly what he did, moving all-in over the top. Daut sent his cards into the muck and Haxton windmilled the bluff in his face. 

Daut had the last laugh, winning the event for $1,535,255 – his first-ever recorded tournament cash.

Matt Affleck's Main Event misery

Matt Affleck's elimination from the 2010 WSOP Main Event stands as perhaps the most heartbreaking moment in the tournament's history.

You'll also get to hear directly from Affleck as he remembers the brutality of the beat he took at the hands of the eventual champion, Jonathan Duhamel. 

With 15 players remaining, the two got all the chips in the middle and Affleck had the best of it with pocket aces against Duhamel's pocket jacks. 

Affleck should have walked away from the clash with one of the biggest stacks in play. Instead, the poker gods intervened to provide Duhamel with a miraculous river card – one that sent Affleck walking toward the exit.
