Decorated (and now semi-retired) poker player Vanessa Selbst has added another string to her bow with an acting role in the hit TV series Billions.
In episode 7 of Season 7, which airs today on Paramount+, Selbst stars in a scene with Scooter Dunbar (Daniel Breaker), helping him to analyze the minds of employees on casino night. You can watch the clip below.
The cameo role isn't as random as it first appears.
Selbst left the poker world around five years ago to focus on a career in finance. With $11.9 million in tournament winnings, she left the game at the very top. Selbst came back to play this year's WSOP, as well as inking a deal to be part of the WSOP Thrill Team last February.
Back in July 2022, she put out a tweet hoping to hoover up more poker talent for her trading firm.
Billions, which is now in its final season, has deep links to poker. The show was created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. Koppelman and Levien wrote the hit poker film, Rounders, still celebrated today in its 25th anniversary year.
And this isn't the first time that Billions has featured a famous poker player, with Phil Hellmuth appearing in episode 3 of season 2, titled 'Optimal Play'.
You can watch the full episode of Billions featuring Selbst on Paramount + now, and it will also air on the Showtime channel in the US on Sunday, September 24 at 8pm (ET/PT).
