Cole Ferraro is the 2021 WSOP Event #61: Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold'em bracelet winner.
Ferraro beat out a field of 3,923 entrants to win the first-place prize of $252,419. The total prize pool was $782,100, split between the top 588 finishers.
Ferraro's victory comes as a great relief to the 22-year-old. He was the bridesmaid in 2021 WSOP Event #26: $1,000 Freezeout, coming second to Dalibor Dula. So, he was pretty pleased to be the bride this time around.
"After my second-place finish, this time I felt like I was gunning for first," he told the press. "Maybe even a little harder than last time."
Ferraro has only been playing for a year and a half (that he'll admit to), having taken up online poker after reaching the legal age for gambling in these United States.
In the wake of his victory, PokerGO — which covered the event — wrote on Twitter: "Congrats to Cole Ferraro. Winner of @WSOP Event 61: $600 Deepstack for $252,491 & his first bracelet!"
Final table action
If you can't tell who the Slucker at the table is, he busted in 9th — Ronald Slucker was the first out at the final table. He was quickly followed by Ruben Chappell, Xiangdong Huang, Edgardo Rosario, Richard Dixon, and Bart Lybaert.
When Sean Dunleavy was done leaving in 3rd, Ferraro was way behind his heads-up partner Sami Rustom.
Ferraro managed to slowly chip up against Rustom until he was able to pick a big bluff off and then rivered a straight for almost a quarter of the chips in play. After that, Ferraro had a 3:1 chip lead over his opponent.
The final hand was a typical cooler. Rustom got his remaining chips in pre-flop with pocket fours, Ferraro called with pocket tens.
The flop and turn ran out 2♠5❤️9♠5♣ giving Ferraro a comfortable lead in equity. The T❤️ on the river was a nice, but unnecessary, improvement to Ferraro's hand.
Cole Ferraro won $252,419 for his set of tens.
Sami Rustom went home with $156,056 for second place.
