Ankush Mandavia just misses out on chance at second WSOP bracelet

Congratulations are due to Ryan "Adopt_aDogg0" Leng, who took down his second WSOP bracelet yesterday. Leng won WSOP Online Event #13 $1,000 No Limit Hold 'em for $108,654. In the process, he thwarted fellow single bracelet owner Ankush "Rickrosstheb" Mandavia.

Leng busted Mandavia in fourth place, clearing the way for his own victory about an hour later.

The event drew 561 entries. Each of which paid $1,000 to play. The event was a freeze-out which means each entry represents one player.

Leng started the final table with a shorter stack — just 653,737 in chips with the blinds at 25k/50k and a 5k ante. Mandavia was the third biggest stack with a much healthier 1,931,238 in chips. The big stack going in was Raman "Acrogum" Afanasenka with a little under 2.5 million.

Afanasenka took 3rd in the end for $46,350.

Chasing bracelets

Although Leng and Mandavia were the biggest names at the final table, they were in fact up against two additional players with prior bracelet wins. The first was Yueqi "anoob" Zhu (who won the Event #35: $ 1,500 Mixed Pot Limit Omaha/Hi-Lo/Big O at the 2018 WSOP). The second was Afanasenka (who won an online event last year).

Leng's previous bracelet was for a $1,500 bounty event in 2018. Mandavia's was for the 30-minute level $5k event in 2016.

Only one of the four could come away with a second bracelet. The other five players were all looking hungrily for their first bracelet. No one was letting go easily.

"Your shot at a WSOP Gold Bracelet starts at 3pm PST," tweeted WSOP.com. But that chance could only pay off for one of the nine.

Action stations

Phil Hellmuth was among the 561 players. He made it well into the middle-game.

Hellmuth tweeted: "I’m still alive in today’s @WSOP Online tourney: 214 left, 90 get paid. I’m a little short, like they say in Shawshank Redemption, I better “get busy livin or…"

He made it to the money, but nowhere near the final table.

The final table saw Leng climb through the ranks. He was responsible for eliminating four of his final table opponents. These included Carmine "Shem22" Ciccone heads-up.

The hand that ended play for Mandavia began during the 40k/80k/8k blind level. Mandavia picked up KsQh and got it all in for 1.2 million against Leng's AdQs. The queen high flop didn't help. Neither did the ace on the river.

Mandavia left in fourth place, with $32,465 but no bracelet. Leng went on to take the whole thing down.
