Team ACR pro Drew Gonzalez finishes 12th as Houston tournament series comes to a close
The biggest Main Event in the history of Houston’s Prime Social poker club saw a local legend come out on top.
Viet “Vegas” Vo emerged from a field of 1,459 entries, clinching the Prime Social Summer Series Main Event win for a $229,200 payday. The $1,100 buy-in Main Event capped off a two-week series at Prime Social that saw guarantees exceeded across the board.
Vo took down the Prime Social Summer Series Main Event win in what’s turning out as a career year for the Houston poker pro in 2021. Vo clinched the victory in the early hours of Monday morning for his second six-figure score of 2021.
His other big score came in April, with Vo finishing third in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Main Event. That third-place run yielded a $593,140 payout for Vo, the biggest of his career.
Monday morning’s win puts Vo’s career earnings at $2,785,501 according to the Hendon Mob database. More than a third of that total has come from his performances at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock and Prime Social Summer Series Main Events.

Prime Social Summer Series Main Event hits $1,459,000 prize pool
The Prime Social Summer Series Main Event drew 1,459 entries for the $1 million guaranteed tournament. The $1,100 buy-in event reached a $1,459,000, marking the second time the Houston poker club has cleared the $1 million prize pool mark for a Main Event.
February’s Prime Signature Series saw its $1,100 Main Event reach a $1,079,000 prize pool. The latest chapter in the ongoing evolution of Houston’s live tournament scene set a new benchmark for the poker club.
Prime Social Tournament Director Justin Hammer tweeted that he’s already working on the next big series for the Houston poker venue:
“HTown legend Viet “Vegas” Vo wins the @PrimeSocialTX Summer Series Main Event and $229,200,” Hammer tweeted Monday morning. “It was an incredible FT to finish off an amazing series. There is more coming soon and I’m ready to get back in the lab after a quick nap.”
Other final table finishers included William Leffingwell (2nd - $152,720), Bentio Marichal (3rd - $112,750), and Upeshka De Silva (4th - $84,130). De Silva went over the $3.2 million mark in career earnings with this win, posting his best result of 2021 so far.

Rounding out the final table were Lawrence Lazar (5th - $63,450), Kyle Arora (6th - $48,370), Antonio Garza (7th - $37,290), Lucas Hillman (8th - $29,060) and David Diaz (9th - $22,910).
Americas Cardroom Team Pro Drew “BetOnDrew” Gonzalez came up three spots short of a final table appearance, finishing 12th in the Main Event for an $18,260 payout. That marks the best career live tournament cash for the online specialist.
Gonzalez thanked his supporters in a Sunday night tweet:
“The run in the @PrimeSocialTX main has ended,” Gonzalez tweeted. “We busted in 12th for $18,260. It was great having this live rail, and the virtual railbirds! Thanks for all the support!”
