Saturday, July 9th. 2022 WSOP Days #34-41.

The last week saw all four Day1s (and both of the Day 2s) of the 2022 WSOP Main Event play out. As a result, the numbers are in — the 2022 WSOP Main Event officially has 8,663 entries.

That's precisely 110 fewer entries than the record-holding 2006 Main Event. However, it is still good enough for the second biggest event of all time.

It also slots nicely into the pre-pandemic trend of growth (the third and fourth biggest are the 2019 and 2018 Main Events respectively).

The official count also confirms a few other vital statistics for this year's event. For example, $8,663,000 in buy-ins. That makes for a prize pool of $8,078,247.50 and a total rake of $584,752.50. There is T433.15 billion in play on the tables (not accounting for rounding during chip-ups). And we will soon have confirmation of the exact pay breakdown.

Day 3 will see the remaining field of 3,019 combined in full for the first time. The curious can also find out what else has been going on at the series by reading on...
