ACR's latest sponsorship deals have been big news. First they managed to poach Chris Moneymaker away from PokerStars. Then they got Vanessa Kade in the middle of a publicity storm over GGPoker's misogyny, just days before she won the Sunday MILLIONS.
Their next sponsored pro is going to be big headlines too. Because it could be you.
Chris Moneymaker became a celebrity for winning the WSOP after satellite-ing in online for pennies on the dollar. As a poker everyman, his win became the spark that triggered the poker boom. ACR's hope is that their series of tournaments will create a similar rags to riches story — or in Moneymaker's case, accountant's salary to more riches story.
For as little as one red cent, players can compete for a $105,000 sponsorship deal and an ACR patch. Plus you get your face on the ACR website, and earn the street cred that comes from having a big corporate backer.
And every qualifying event will have a buy-in of just $0.01.
How it works
Four times a day, seven days a week, for twelve weeks, ACR will be running qualifying tournaments. That means for a few bucks you can have 336 shots at the top prize.
Each of the one-cent events will be single entry freeze-outs with 15K starting stacks. Blinds go up every five minutes and players can late reg for the first hour.
Each game contributes to a weekly leaderboard. The top 100 finishers in each game will get weekly leaderboard points. The top 30 players in each week's leaderboard move forward to the main event and then the leaderboard resets for the next week.
You can only win one entry to the main event. That means there will be 360 players who make it to the final round.
These 360 players will duke it out in one last tourney, with the sponsorship deal as first prize. Play your cards right, literally, and it could be you. The winner of the deal will get $25,000 in cash, $40,000 in online tourney buy-ins, and $40,000 in live tourney buy-ins.
