The World Series of Poker is the moment when all eyes turn to the poker world (or at least it was before the coverage became subscription only). So it's a great time for poker clients to roll out their best and brightest PR folks to drum up a bit of hype.
ACR tweeted this morning that is has "big news as we head towards the end of 2021! Guess the identity of ACR's new Team Pros and participate in a #raffle for a $215 ticket." The tweet was accompanied by an image of two silhouettes, which raffle entrants have to ID.
So far, confidence is high that the spiky-haired silhouette is Chris Moorman. The votes on the softer-looking hairdo are more wide-ranging. Poker.org's best guesses right now are Scotty Nguyen and the 1950s version of Elizabeth Comstock from 2013's Burial at Sea.
Other folks have other theories.
If you have a theory as to who the silhouettes belong to, you can take a shot at winning the $215 ticket by tagging a couple of friends in a comment under the original ACR tweet.
New pros for Americas Cardroom
ACR's current roster of pros also weighed in on the competition.
Chris Moneymaker, one of ACR's biggest names, ribbed his colleagues Vanessa Kade and Jon Pardy in a quote tweet.
"Not sure [who the new pros are] but very glad they are replacing @VanessaKade and @Jon_Pardy," wrote Moneymaker. Kade has been locked in a mock feud with Moneymaker ever since she called him "ancient" online.
We're not sure what Pardy has done to invoke Moneymaker's ire.
Kade on the other hand has been deluged with guesses that she is the new sponsored pro in the competition.
This is unlikely since — as she points out — she has "been with ACR since February."
At least this promotional push is likely to be more effective than ACR's choice of horror movie quotations.
A recent tweet from the ACR account read: "The poker client. You opened it. We came. Now you must come with us, taste our pleasures." This is a paraphrase of one of Pinhead's lines in Clive Barker's ode to sadomasochism: Hellraiser (1987).
Hellraiser's labyrinth of psycho-sexual agony seems like an interesting choice for a promotional comparison to playing poker on your client.
