At the start of 2007, I was still 19, which meant that aside from Turning Stone Casino in upstate New York, legal live poker was not a reasonable option for me. One notable exception was the annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, a 1,000+ person $10K buy-in at the Atlantis resort in Nassau, The Bahamas.

PokerStars would run hundreds of satellites to this tournament months in advance, drawing in waves of online qualifiers and recreational players alongside the pros.
