The US's James Collopy has been named the Global Poker Index's Player of the Month for September 2024 after a stellar month that saw him cash seven times in two major poker series for over $830,000 in total.
Collopy's mighty September included three cashes at EPT Barcelona, starting with a third-place finish in that festival's 25K High Roller. Two more cashes in Spain followed, including another third-place effort, and it was then back to Las Vegas, where Collopy made the final table in four consecutive PGT Poker Masters events.
Though Collopy didn't win any of the Poker Masters tourneys, his run of two seconds, a third, and a sixth-place finish brought him the Poker Masters Purple Jacket, awarded to the series' overall points leader. With three third-place and two second-place scores during September, he totaled 1,216.02 points and outdistanced the GPI runner-up for the month, the US's David Coleman, with France's Thomas Eychenne close behind in third.
Mateos leads 2024 POY race
The big month in GPI points also moved Collopy to #8 on the GPI's 2024 Player of the Year leaderboard. Spain's Adrian Mateos tops that race, with Jesse Lonis still topping the GPI's overall rolling index. Collopy retains his record as the District of Columbia's all-time tournament-earnings leader and is closing in on the $10M mark in lifetime live earnings.
