Live poker is booming. So far, the fields at this year’s World Series of Poker are on course to match or outstrip last year’s blockbuster, when over 10,000 players rocked up to contest the 2023 Main Event. Will this year set a new all-time high? If GGPoker has anything to do with it, it’s a very real possibility.
The online poker giant has been running qualifiers and promotions of various types, including on its ClubGG mobile app. With the first Main Event starting flight now less than a week away, 1,124 lucky winners are packing their bags for the trip to Las Vegas.
Road to Vegas numbers up on last year
GGPoker’s popular Road to Vegas promotion, where players have the chance to win their way to the Main Event from $1, will send 791 hopefuls to the 2024 poker showpiece - 732 from the .COM site and a further 59 from GGPoker’s Canadian site.
This is an increase on the 744 who qualified via this route in 2023, but the total number of qualifiers is even higher thanks to the operator’s ClubGG app, which will be sending 100 more players to Las Vegas. 233 players have also bought in directly through GGPoker.
As with last year, GGPoker is also promising an additional million-dollar bonus if one of their players wins the Main Event.
