On Saturday, March 8, the world will celebrate International Women's Day. In the virtual poker world, PokerStars has announced a special edition tournament – the KJ Open – exclusively for female players.
The tournament, named for PokerStars Ambassador and Hippodrome Casino Director of Poker Kerryjane Craigie, serves a dual purpose as it both celebrates and promotes women in poker while also offering entrants a shot at winning one of two €250 tickets for the upcoming Irish Open Ladies Championship. The winner of the KJ Open will automatically earn one of the seats, while the player who manages to knockout Craigie on her first entry will take the other.
Plus, for every additional €250 in the prize pool, an extra seat will be added to the pot, with a maximum of 10 potential seats up for grabs. The €27.50 buy-in KJ Open kicks off Saturday, March 8 at 7:05pm UTC and is open exclusively to women – any and all male participants will be disqualified and forfeit any prize, as well as their buy-in.
Craigie joined the PokerStars team in June of 2024 after starting her poker journey back in 2012 as manager of the collaborative poker room run by the Hippodrome Casino and PokerStars. Since then, her commitment to the growth of the game – especially for women – has seen her elevated to the role of Director of Poker.
At the time of her signing, Craigie said, “I am delighted and honored to be given the opportunity to promote and support women in poker as a PokerStars ambassador. I truly believe that PokerStars’ mindset and commitment to making a difference are perfectly aligned with today’s environment.”
