One of the world's best adds another title to the resume

Alex Foxen ended Event #38 from the WPT Online Series by partypoker in a familiar position - that of a high-stakes tournament champion.

The former No. 1-ranked player on the Global Poker Index added another championship to his list of accomplishments Tuesday. Foxen topped the field in WPT Online Series Event #38: $10,300 WPT High Roller, cashing for the winner’s prize of $252,288.

Foxen outdueled Simon Mattsson (2nd - $168,093) in the heads-up finale for the championship. Mattsson came up just short of clinching his second $10,300 High Roller title of the series.

Event #23 from the WPT Online Series also played as a $10,300 buy-in High Roller tournament. Mattsson emerged victorious in that event, which finished up May 25.

Mattsson couldn’t quite go back-to-back with High Roller wins, but he added another six-figure payout to the bankroll. The WPT Online Series has included three $10,300 High Roller tournaments so far, with Mattsson cashing in all three.

Mattsson couldn’t get past Foxen in Event #38, however. The $1 million guaranteed tournament drew 101 entries, just clearing the guarantee with a $1,010,000 prize pool.

Foxen tops tough field for the High Roller win

The third and final $10,300 High Roller of the series featured a roster of poker’s finest at the final table, with Foxen ending up as the last player standing.

Other top finishers from Event #38 included Elio Fox (3rd - $117,344), Samuel Vousden (4th - $80,847), and Leon Strum (5th - $59,649). Rounding out the seven-handed final table were Shawn Daniels (6th - $46,986) and Rok Gostisa (7th - $38,052).

The $10,300 High Roller paid 17 players, with those names reading like a who’s who of the high stakes poker economy. Other players in the money included Sam Greenwood (8th - $30,780), Niklas Astedt (11th - $26,460), 2019 WSOP Main Event runner-up Dario Sammartino (13th - $22,594) and Kristen Bicknell (15th - $21,489).

The WPT Online Series wraps up with two big final tables. Both the WPT500 $1 Million Guaranteed and the $3 Million Guaranteed Main Event will crown champions over the next two days.
