Yesterday in the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas the first major series of the PokerGO Tour commenced. The 2024 PokerGO Cup kicked off proceedings with a $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em, the first tournament of the eight-event schedule.
The event garnered a field of 111 entrants to create a prize pool of $555,000 and paid out sixteen players, with $141,525 for the eventual winner. After a long day of play, the field slimmed down to just six remaining players. DavidPeters holds the chip lead headed into the final table, joined by MarkIoli, FabianQuoss, ShawnDaniels, CodyDaniels, and DustiSmith. The final six each have $27,750 locked up, but they're all gunning for the top prize.
For Cody Daniels, the win would represent the culmination of a long-held dream to play in the PokerGO Studio against some of poker's toughest players. Daniels, currently battling a terminal illness, caught the attention of the poker world this summer at the World Series of Poker.
After hearing of the adversity Daniels' faced with his health problems, community members rallied together to cover his entry to play the Main Event--a lifelong dream for him.
Now, he's back in Las Vegas battling it out in the PokerGO Studio with a shot at a six-figure payday if things go his way later today.
Daniels faces an uphill battle as he enters the final frame of play sitting fifth in the chip counts, but with the right cards and a little luck he could find himself making a comeback for the ages.
The PokerGO Cup Event #1 final table commences at 12:00pm PST with streamed coverage kicking off on a one-hour delay at 1:00pm PST on PokerGO.
