Pennsylvania-only series guarantees $2 million from April 17 through May 3
April generally marks Spring Championship of Online Poker season at PokerStars, and players worldwide are currently embroiled in the 2021 SCOOP on the PokerStars international client.
Not wanting to leave their Pennsylvania players out of the SCOOP action, PokerStars PA kicks off a Pennsylvania-only version of the SCOOP this weekend. PokerStars PA hosts the 2021 PASCOOP April 16-May 3, marking the second annual running for the Pennsylvania series.
PokerStars PA expanded this year’s tournament schedule to include 40 events, each offering the familiar three-tier buy-in system. Each of the 40 events presents a low, medium, and high buy-in tier and the 2021 PASCOOP offers 120 total tournaments.
Combined guaranteed prize money across all events clocks in at $2 million, matching last year’s total. The Spring 2020 edition of the PASCOOP saw that $2 million figure well surpassed, however, and the 2021 PASCOOP aims to push the prize pools even further.
The $2 million in guaranteed prize money ties last year’s PASCOOP for the largest combined guaranteed prize pool of any series in the history of Pennsylvania’s regulated online poker industry. The schedule of 120 total tournaments sets a new record for number of tournaments offered in a Pennsylvania series.
2021 PASCOOP Main Events
Start Date | Tournament Name | Buy-in | Guaranteed Prize Pool |
May 2 | PASCOOP 36-L | $30 | $20,000 |
May 2 | PASCOOP 36-M | $75 | $40,000 |
May 2 | PASCOOP 36-H | $300 | $200,000 |
$200,000 guaranteed Main Event highlights PASCOOP schedule
Per PokerStars Championship of Online Poker tradition, the PASCOOP schedule offers a bevy of different poker variants. Champions will be crowned in events that include Pot-Limit Omaha, H.O.R.S.E., 8-Game Mix, Five-Card PLO, and Progressive KO as game formats.
No-Limit Hold’em still reigns supreme on the PASCOOP schedule, however, and the biggest guarantees in the series all revolve around the world’s most popular poker variant.
The largest guaranteed prize pool across the series comes in Event #36-H, which functions as the high buy-in tier version of the PASCOOP Main Event.
Event #36-H offers $200,000 guaranteed at a $300 buy-in. Other tiers for the Main Event include Event #36-L ($30 buy-in, $20,000 guaranteed) and #36-M ($75 buy-in, $40,000 guaranteed). All three Main Events play as two-day tournaments, and all three begin on May 2 at 6 pm local time.
Another tournament likely to draw big attendance is Event #20-H: $200 Sunday Special. The $200 buy-in tournament begins April 25 and offers a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The 2020 edition of the PASCOOP saw the final combined prize pools go over the $3.2 million mark. That’s a lofty mark to hit for the 2021 PASCOOP, but PokerStars continues to push the envelope in the Pennsylvania market.
