Super High Roller Bowl Europe Event #5: $50,000 Short Deck Hold'em marked the end of the second phase of SHRBE. After this, the price of poker goes up, with Event #6 costing $100k to buy into.

Event #5 went to Santi Jiang, who after two final tables this series was beginning to look like the designated bridesmaid. The third time proved the charm for Jiang who won this event outright. He also went on to take 4th in SHRBE Event #7 two days later.

Twenty players entered Event #5. However, with 22 rebuys added to the pool, the event had a healthy $2.1 million in the pot. $756,000 was reserved for first place.

The game was short deck, in which Jiang excels, so he went into the game ready to win. Five of his nine live tournament cashes have been in short deck events. Those nine finishes add up to $1.9 million at the time of writing.

Then again he was up against competition that was at least as motivated as him. His opponents Seth Davies and Chris Brewer were both playing their third final tables of the series too.

In the end, the prize went to Jiang after a whirlwind final table.

PokerGO tweeted a simple message about Jiang's victory. "Super High Roller Bowl Europe: Santi Jiang wins Event 5: $50,000 Short Deck for $756,000!" the company wrote.

The final table took just two and a half hours to wind down. Jiang smashed through the field with very little resistance as hand after hand went his way.

PokerGO has been live-streaming most of the SHRBE final tables. However, in this case, the coverage was bumped in favor of a cash game broadcast. As a result, the available details of Jiang's final hand are limited.

Paul Phua busted early in fourth and headed right over to the cash game. He was apparently hoping to turn a bigger profit by shearing casino owners Rob Yong and Leon Tsoukernik than he could by trying to skin this final table of pros.

Ivan Kuznetsov was next out, leaving Seth Davies to lose heads up against Jiang.

Davies took $504,000 for his second-place finish.

"A brick to decorate the house," joked Jiang on Twitter, referencing the 2001-style monolith of a trophy he had just won.
