Chris Moneymaker entered Day 2 of Americas Cardroom’s Venom PKO event with 1,672,605 chips and a total bounty of $3,437.50 on his head. Moneymaker had an outstanding day on Monday, building his stack up to 32,158,399 and his bounty up to $20,673.82. He enters Tuesday’s Day 3 with the third-highest chip stack in the remaining field of 46 players.
This $5,000,000 guaranteed PKO tournament amassed 2,321 players to create a total prize pool of $5,802,500. The players remaining have all locked up at least $6,672.87 each, with a pay jump to $7,543.25 coming after the first elimination of the day. First and second place in this event each pay $411,687, but the winner will add a large chunk of change to that total with their heads-up opponent’s bounty.
Speaking of bounties, it’s worth a reminder that as part of the promotional build up for this tournament, ACR announced that Moneymaker and Vanessa Kade were “under attack”. Moneymaker had been taken over by Symbiote Venom, and eliminating him from this tournament would earn the player who knocked him out an eradication reward of 100% of his total bounty.
Moneymaker’s current bounty total is at $20,673.82. If a player were to knock him out at this number, they would receive $10,961.91 in their account and have $10,961.91 added to their own progressive bounty. With the eradication reward bonus in place, that player would also receive an additional $20,673.82, bringing the current value of knocking Chris Moneymaker out up to $31,635.73.
And those numbers are just based on Moneymaker’s current bounty total. With the third-biggest chip stack in the tournament heading into today’s Day 3 at 10am PST, there’s a good chance that number will grow. Just how big will it get? One of the biggest remaining threats in the tournament alongside Moneymaker is Chris “Whoareya1” Moorman. Moorman has over $19 million in career online tournament cashes, and is looking to add to that total with a big score here. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner is short on chips, with 4,960,481 and the blinds at 175,000/350,000 (ante 52,500), but an early double up could put him right back in the mix.
Tuesday’s action will continue until eight players remain. Those eight players will resume play at the final table on Wednesday, which will be streamed live on ACR’s Twitch channel.
