Three of poker’s most prominent online brands run competing tournament series in April
Online poker players enjoy so many tournament options in April that it might be tough to choose what to grind on a given day.
The three biggest poker sites in the game go head-to-head-to-head with competing spring tournament festivals, as April stands poised to play out as the biggest month yet on the 2021 online tournament calendar. PokerStars, GGPoker, and partypoker all run major series this month, but how do the three festivals stack up against each other?
Let’s take a look at what the three online poker giants have on tap in this April online tournament preview:
PokerStars SCOOP vs. GG Spring Festival vs. partypoker POWERFEST: Tale of the tape

Is April the biggest month ever for online poker tournaments?
The long-running Spring Championship of Online Poker plays out for the 13th consecutive year on PokerStars. The SCOOP stands as one of the game’s most anticipated series each year, and the 2021 version shouldn’t disappoint players who enjoy access to the PokerStars main client.
The 2021 SCOOP presents 102 events, with each offering a low, medium, and high buy-in tier. That three-tier tradition for the SCOOP continues this April with 306 total tournaments, offering a combined $100 million in guaranteed prize money and running April 4-28.
An unexpected arrival to the April poker calendar comes courtesy of GGPoker. The upstart poker site announced its own spring festival to run on the exact dates as the PokerStars SCOOP.
The GG Spring festival, also scheduled for April 4-28, plays out in the three-tier buy-in format perfected by PokerStars over the years. The GG Spring Festival runs 110 events, and with three buy-in tiers each, that amounts to 330 total tournaments.
Combined guarantees for the GG Spring Festival total $150 million. The series features an expanded schedule of high-stakes events, which will undoubtedly draw GGPoker’s high-roller regulars to the platform throughout the month.
Partypoker POWERFEST runs April 9-27, adding a third major online tournament festival to the April roster. The final schedule hasn’t yet been released, but we know that the centerpiece tournament from POWERFEST plays out as a $1 million guaranteed Main Event.
