Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier

People love poker for different reasons: some chase the money, others seek the thrill of competition, while some have brains that just seem wired to calculate complex probabilities on the fly. While we wouldn’t presume to speak for ElkY, it seems he found his way to high stakes poker via a true love of strategy gaming.

An early esports pioneer, ElkY was a dominant player in the videogames Starcraft and Warcraft, with a number of top 4 finishes in the World Cyber Games in South Korea before achieving first place at the Euro Cyber Games in Paris, France, in 2004.

These games reward strategic thinking and efficient multitasking, at speed, and so it was no surprise that ElkY took to online poker so rapidly and so successfully. Transferring those skills to multitabling at PokerStars, he became the first player to reach Supernova Elite status, and went on to join Team PokerStars Pro in 2006.

The following decade saw the player from France go on a tear that would include multiple victories at the WSOP, the EPT and the WPT, among others, as well as racking up wins at the World Championship of Online Poker and the Spring Championship of Online Poker. He even achieved an official World Record for playing 62 Sit & Gos in an hour (and finishing in profit).

During his time as a professional ElkY has represented PokerStars, partypoker and GGPoker, building a reputation for integrity, professionalism and enduring success at the highest level.
